Our 2015 Grammy Predictions

The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 8, 2015, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Who will win this year’s most coveted awards? Find out our picks below:

Album of the Year:

Nominees:

  • Beck – Morning Phase
  • Beyoncé – Beyoncé
  • Ed Sheeran– X
  • Pharrell– GIRL
  • Sam Smith– In The Lonely Hour

Winner: Beyoncé – Beyoncé. Beyoncé’s self-titled fifth album was released without warning in December 2013 and changed the industry. She has never won this award, although has been nominated in the past. Sam Smith may prove to be Beyoncé’s biggest competition in this category and could easily take the award from Queen B.

Song of the Year:

Nominees:

  • Hozier –  “Take Me To Church”
  • Meghan Trainor – “All About That Bass”
  • Sam Smith – “Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)”
  • Sia – “Chandelier”
  • Taylor Swift – “Shake It Off”

Winner: Sam Smith. “Stay With Me” was one of the biggest songs of the year and is likely to take home this award. Sia’s “Chandelier” has a shot at winning this award too. Sia is a well-known and respected songwriter in the industry and given that this a songwriting award, she could take this home. Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” was a beautifully written song and may receive the recognition it deserves.

Record of the Year:

Nominees:

  • Iggy Azalea – “Fancy (ft. Charli XCX)”
  • Meghan Trainor – “All About That Bass”
  • Sam Smith – “Stay With Me (Darkchild Version)”
  • Sia – “Chandelier”
  • Taylor Swift – “Shake It Off”

Winner: Most likely, Sam Smith will win for “Stay With Me” but don’t count Taylor Swift and her mega hit “Shake It Off” out just yet.

Best New Artist:

Nominees:

  • Bastille
  • Brandy Clark
  • HAIM
  • Iggy Azalea
  • Sam Smith

Winner: Sam Smith. He is by far the front runner in this category. Iggy Azalea is the only other nominee that has shared in Sam Smith’s commercial success, but Sam Smith should win this award. Let’s just hope the Best New Artist curse stays far away from Mr. Smith.

We nailed it on Sam Smith. I’m happy to see Beck, Pharrell Williams and St. Vincent recognized – Fantastic artists. I could have gotten through the night just fine with a little less Kanye though.
